Need to return an item? We’re happy to help. Eligible items may be returned by requesting authorization within 35 days of delivery. Once approved, your return must reach us within 21 days.
Return eligibility
Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.
Shipping and refunds
For non-defective returns, customers cover return shipping. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable. If your order included free shipping, our actual outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. Eligible returns have no restocking fee.

Part 440001970 is the complete dirt cup and lid assembly for the Hoover SH40080, the bagless bin that catches debris and seals shut until you empty it.
A dirt cup earns a crack faster than most parts on the machine simply from being knocked against a trash can every time it is emptied, and a lid that no longer latches tight lets the seal gap open under vacuum. Either fault lets fine dust leak back out around the bin instead of staying captured, which shows up as dust settling near the machine's base after a run rather than staying trapped where it belongs.
Wash the cup in warm water and let it dry completely before you put it back on the machine, since trapped moisture inside a sealed bin invites odor. Check that the lid closes evenly and holds all the way round once it is back in place; a lid that seats on one side but not the other will not hold the seal under full suction, and the leak comes back within a few uses even though everything looks properly closed.
