A430-0205 is a 2.500 inch Phillips pan head screw in the No. 8-16 thread size, and Tacony catalogs it against two chassis at once: Powr-Flite's PF300BP backpack vacuum, and Carpet Pro's CP-ULW, SCBP1.2 and ZM-400 models. Its extra length compared with most cosmetic fasteners is a clue to its job, since a screw this long is generally clamping several stacked layers together at once rather than pinning down a single thin panel.
A fastener this long is generally holding an assembly that sees vibration in service, and vibration is what walks a screw out of its hole over months of use. If a previous repair overtightened this one, the threads in the hole it seats into can strip, and a stripped hole will refuse to hold even a brand-new screw of the correct length. Should the old screw back out with almost no resistance, inspect the hole itself for rounded or torn threads before assuming the fastener alone was the problem.
Machines like these use more than one screw length for different jobs, so as you take one apart, note exactly which position each 2.500 inch screw came out of rather than trusting memory to sort them again at reassembly.
