Two parts come in this box: the pastel pink upper shell of the AIRBELT K3 PREMIUM, catalogued as 6680CZ, and the 6625ER catch with its screw. The shell is the finished top surface of the canister; the catch is the sprung fitting that pins the 6627GS upholstery tool to the outside of the machine so it travels with the canister rather than being left on the stairs.
A top casing is renewed for damage rather than wear. The plastic does not fatigue in normal use, but it cracks at the stress risers — around screw bosses, at the leading corner, along the edge that meets the lower shell — and once cracked it flexes. A flexing panel sits proud of its neighbours, buzzes at speed and lets the tool catch wander out of line. Replacing it squares the whole top of the machine up again without disturbing anything electrical inside.

Two details are worth knowing before the job. The foam bumper strip and the AIRBELT textile band run along the joint the panel makes with the lower shell, so they are unclipped first and refitted last; and the tool catch is easier to screw into the new casing on the bench than in place on the machine.
