Left-hand thread, and that is the whole point of ordering the right one. This M6 nut backs off clockwise and tightens counter-clockwise, which is how SEBO keeps a rotating assembly on the SOFTCASE from unwinding itself under load. A standard right-hand M6 dropped into the same hole will either strip on the way in or work loose in service.
The reasoning behind a reversed thread is simple mechanics: where a shaft turns in one direction, an ordinary nut is being nudged undone a fraction on every revolution. Reverse the helix and the same rotation tightens it instead. It also means the usual instinct at the spanner is exactly wrong, and more than one of these has been reported as seized when it was simply being turned the wrong way. Anyone who has met a left-hand thread before will recognise the feel of it immediately; anyone who has not tends to reach for a longer bar, which is how the flats get rounded off.
Because it is a fastener with a non-standard thread, this is not a nut that can be matched from a general hardware tin by measuring across the flats. An M6 that fits the spanner will not fit the stud, and a right-hand M6 that starts on the thread will damage it. Ordering it by SEBO part number is the only reliable route.
Part 0262ER supplies ten of them. Fits the SEBO CE12 Softcase, where SEBO lists the nut at position 167 on the SOFTCASE CE12 parts diagram. Mark the old nut before it goes in the bin so the replacement is not fought in the wrong direction on the way back together.
