    Fine-gauge fasteners hold the lighter mouldings on a canister body, and 01037ER is the pack of ten 3.0 x 16 screws SEBO specifies for the CE12 Softcase. The socket is a Tx 10, a size down from the T20 driver used elsewhere on the same machine, so it is worth having the right bit at hand before anything comes apart.

    Screws this slim are the ones most often over-tightened or dropped during a strip-down. Three millimetres of shank does not give much warning before the thread chews its way out of a plastic boss, and once that has happened the screw will never pull a cover flat again however hard it is driven. A new fastener with an unworn point bites into sound material instead. The symptoms that send someone looking are a Softcase panel that flexes or clicks when the machine is lifted by the body, a cover that no longer sits down level along one edge, and a socket that has opened up until the Tx 10 bit spins free.

    Seat the driver fully before applying any force. A Tx 20 bit pressed into a Tx 10 head feels as though it has engaged and will round the socket out on the first turn, which is how most of these screws are lost rather than through any fault in the fastener. The correct bit reaches the bottom of the star and turns without rocking. Keep a Tx 10 with the machine if you expect to open it again, since the CE12 mixes drive sizes and the small one is the easiest to get wrong.
