Returns & Exchanges

A732-9206 is a No. 5 by 1/2 in. Hi-Lo self-threading screw. Powr-Flite's parts catalog carries the identical fastener under this same part number, listing it as SCREW No 5X0.5 HI-LO SELF THREADING.

Self-threading construction means the fastener cuts its own path into an untapped plastic boss rather than following one already there, and the Hi-Lo design, one tall thread crest paired with a shorter one, grips more surface area in soft plastic than an ordinary machine thread manages.

Whenever a boss has already accepted this screw once, follow that same cut rather than starting a new one: turn the screw backward under light pressure until it drops into its existing groove, then run it forward from there. Doing this every time is what lets a plastic boss survive repeated teardowns instead of stripping out on the third or fourth. Swap the screw instead of reusing it if the head or shank already shows rounding from a prior removal, since a worn Hi-Lo thread will not track its old cut cleanly.
