Fitting choice matters more in a central vacuum run than most homeowners expect. A sharper elbow at the wrong point in a run creates a pinch where suction drops off and where debris is more likely to snag on its way to the canister. A medium ell is the middle ground: enough of a turn to route pipe around framing without the extra drag of an unnecessarily tight bend, which matters most on longer runs where several fittings add up.
It solvent-welds into standard central vacuum PVC pipe the same way any other hub fitting does. Dry-fit the elbow before cementing it, since central vac PVC sets with standard purple primer and solvent cement, and once a joint is made there is no adjusting it afterward.
