Need to return an item? We’re happy to help. Eligible items may be returned by requesting authorization within 35 days of delivery. Once approved, your return must reach us within 21 days.
Return eligibility
Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.
Shipping and refunds
For non-defective returns, customers cover return shipping. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable. If your order included free shipping, our actual outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. Eligible returns have no restocking fee.

Part 174167A is the cord hook spring Kirby used for decades, from the Dual Sanitronic D80 right through the Generation machines, the Ultimate G, Diamond Edition, Sentria, Sentria II and Avalir, taking in the Classic, Classic Omega, Classic III, Tradition, Heritage, Heritage II and Legend II along the way.
The spring is what makes the hook grip. It holds tension against the wrapped cord so the coil stays put when the machine is carried or stored. Springs take a set with age and on machines this old they frequently break outright; the hook then swings free and the cord unwinds by itself, usually halfway up the stairs.
Small part, obvious symptom. Because the same spring covers such a range of Kirbys it is worth keeping one on the shelf. Fit it with the hook off the fork so the spring seats properly on its post.
