Need to return an item? We’re happy to help. Eligible items may be returned by requesting authorization within 35 days of delivery. Once approved, your return must reach us within 21 days.
Return eligibility
Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.
Shipping and refunds
For non-defective returns, customers cover return shipping. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable. If your order included free shipping, our actual outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. Eligible returns have no restocking fee.

The cord on a Kirby Avalir wraps around a hook on the handle fork; part 173814 replaces it, and it fits the Avalir, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum.
Hooks break at the root, almost always because the cord gets yanked off in a hurry rather than unwound. The failure is not subtle. The hook is simply gone, and afterwards the cord will not stay on the machine: it falls off in the closet, follows you around the room, and eventually gets rolled over by the nozzle. Being run over damages cords far more often than plugging and unplugging ever does.
Fitting takes a screwdriver and a couple of minutes. While the cord is unwrapped, run it through your hands and look for nicks or flat spots in the jacket, which are the reason to retire a cord rather than simply rewrap it.
