Need to return an item? We’re happy to help. Eligible items may be returned by requesting authorization within 35 days of delivery. Once approved, your return must reach us within 21 days.
Return eligibility
Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.
Shipping and refunds
For non-defective returns, customers cover return shipping. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable. If your order included free shipping, our actual outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. Eligible returns have no restocking fee.

The trip lever, Hoover part 652357, is the small actuating lever fitted to the Hoover 918, and it also fits the Hoover 91. It is a linkage part: your input at the lever is what moves the mechanism behind it.
Levers of this kind bend before they break. The action goes soft, you find yourself pressing harder or at an angle to make it catch, and eventually it stops engaging at all - at which point most people conclude the mechanism itself has failed when it is only the lever in front of it that has given up.
Check that the linkage behind the lever still moves freely before the replacement goes on. A stiff linkage is what bent the last lever, and it will bend this one in the same way.
