Returns & Exchanges

Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.

This is the cord rewind pedal for the SUN.3 and JILL.3 canisters, cataloged as B361-4100. The two are the same machine sold under two names, the Sun as a Riccar and the Jill as a Simplicity, and pressing this pedal releases the reel inside the body so the power cord retracts under spring tension instead of being coiled by hand.

Foot pedals like this one live at floor level and take direct impact every time they are stepped on, a harder life than most controls on the machine get. The pedal itself can crack at a hinge point, or the return spring behind it can weaken so the pedal sticks down instead of popping back after use. Either failure ends the same way: the cord either will not retract at all, or it retracts only partway and has to be pulled the rest of the way in by hand.

Before ordering, confirm which pedal actually needs replacing. A canister of this type carries more than one foot control on its base, so identify the broken one on the machine in front of you rather than ordering from memory, and check it against your model's exploded parts diagram if you have access to one.

A light coat of general-purpose grease on the pedal's pivot when it goes back together reduces the friction that speeds wear on both the plastic pedal and the pin it rides against, and takes only a moment while the base is already open. Unplug the machine before opening the base, since the reel spring stores tension even when the vacuum is off.
