Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.

For non-defective returns, customers cover return shipping. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable. If your order included free shipping, our actual outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. Eligible returns have no restocking fee.

Bissell pairs the case drum and the hose as one part, 2031110, sold together for the 3522-1 upright because they form a single sealed air path: the drum is the molded shell mounted to the machine body, while the hose is the flexible run connecting it to the floor nozzle.
A leak anywhere along that path shows up as lost suction at the carpet rather than anywhere else, since that is the last stretch of ducting before the air reaches the bag. Hoses tend to split at the corrugated sections or right at the cuffs where they clamp on, and the drum itself cracks at the point where the hose pulls against it, often from being lifted or dragged by the hose instead of the handle. The giveaway is a machine that still sounds like it is running at full power but has stopped picking anything up off the floor.
Before ordering, run a hand down the length of the hose feeling for a soft spot or a split, and check the drum specifically where the hose attaches for a hairline crack. Either fault by itself is enough to account for a full loss of pickup without the rest of the assembly being at fault.
